I haven't updated my journal since last May. How pathetic is that? LOL. It's not like anyone actually reads it anyway, but you know what? I can pretend.

I've decided to update it today because seriously, 08/08/08. Hellz yeah. I'm so excited for the Olympics! Not so much the sports, but the politics that inevitably go along with it.

Oh and guess what! Over the summer I traveled to Ireland, Scotland, and England, something that I have ALWAYS wanted to do. My favo(u)rite place was Ireland. It is just so breathtakingly beautiful that I could not help falling in love. I didn't know anything about the history of Ireland before I went there, but now, a trip and several (thick) books later, I think that Ireland's story is one of the most interesting.

That's not to say that I didn't absolutely love Scotland and England as well. Both places are so rich in history and personality. The days I spent in York and Edinburgh were probably the best days of my life so far. London was awesome as well, although I got a bit sick while we were there, and that made it slightly less pleasant than it should have been.

But for all I learned about the countries I visited, I learned even more about my own country. It's funny the things you can see when you're looking at your country through the eyes of an outsider. Lots of things I expected to learn, others I didn't. It was quite an experience, and I can honestly say that it changed my life.
